Terms & Data Notice
Plain Language Version
Lake Life exists to serve lake communities like yours. We're not here to monetize your data, harvest unnecessary permissions, or bury you in fine print. But here's what you should know.
What We Collect & Why
The Lake Life Dashboard — lake levels, trends, weather, bridge clearances, ramp information, and more — is free and open to everyone, on every lake, with no account required.
If you'd rather stay anonymous, you can use Lake Life as a Guest. We use only the limited device and technical information needed to remember your settings and operate the app — you don't need to give us your name, email address, or other personal information just to use the Dashboard.
If you choose to become a Member, we ask for your email address and, optionally, your name. This lets us keep things like your favorite bridges, ramps and points of interest, your boats, and your preferred lake synced across visits — and keep you informed about Lake Life updates and important news for your lake.
If you become a paying Member, your payment is processed securely by Stripe. We don't see or store your complete card information ourselves.
We also use basic analytics to understand how Lake Life is being used — things like which pages are visited and which features are most useful — so we can continue improving the app.

What We Don't Do
We don't sell or rent your personal information.
We don't provide your personal information to outside organizations for their own marketing purposes.
Like nearly every online service, we may use trusted service providers — such as payment processing, hosting, email, or analytics providers — when necessary to operate Lake Life. We limit the information shared with those providers to what's reasonably necessary for them to perform those services.
We also don't access device features such as your location, camera, or other permissions unless a Lake Life feature requires it and you choose to grant that permission.
Our job is to deliver useful lake information to you — not collect unnecessary information from you.

Membership & Payments
If you choose to become a Member ($10/year), you can cancel any time from your account settings — no calls, no emails, no hard feelings.
Cancel and you'll keep full access through the time you've already paid for; your membership simply won't renew automatically after that.
Membership fees and donations generally aren't refundable, but if something looks wrong — like a duplicate charge — email us and we'll help sort it out.
Payments are handled securely by Stripe. We never see or store your complete card details ourselves.

A Word About Our Data
⚠ Data & Water Safety
We take accuracy seriously. But a lake is a living, breathing body of water that changes constantly.
Much of the information Lake Life displays comes from authoritative third-party sources — such as utilities, hydroelectric operators, government agencies, weather providers, and organizations like the USGS — depending on the lake. We don't operate or control those sources, their gauges, sensors, systems, or data feeds.
We present their information as faithfully as we can, but source data can occasionally be delayed, unavailable, incomplete, or incorrect.
Some information shown by Lake Life is reported data, such as a lake-level reading received from an outside source. Other information may be an estimate calculated from available data, such as an estimated bridge clearance or ramp depth.
Either way, conditions on the water can change between readings and can vary from one location to another.
Lake Life Informs. You Decide.
The Lake Life Dashboard is an informational tool. It does not determine whether conditions are safe.
Never rely on Lake Life as your only source of navigation or safety information.
Bridge clearances and ramp depths are estimates. Lake levels and weather information may change after the latest reported reading. Waves, wakes, rainfall, dam operations, debris, sediment, obstructions, and other conditions can make what you actually encounter different from what appears on the screen.
Actual conditions, posted signs and markers, official warnings, and what you can see around you always take priority over information displayed by Lake Life.
The person operating a boat or other vessel is always responsible for deciding whether conditions are safe and for the safe operation and navigation of that vessel.
Nothing replaces eyes on the water and good judgment in the captain's chair. Stay safe out there.
